Content Editor
Breathless Press, a digital publisher of all subgenres of romance, is seeking an experienced content editor ready to work within a busy, exciting, and growing community of industry professionals.
Job Summary:
- review and respond to all submissions assigned with either an acceptance or personal rejection email
- read, acquire, and develop new romance, erotic romance, and erotica authors.
- correspond with author and create editing timeline
- carry out content and line edits, following the Breathless Press Editorial Guidelines to assist the author in improving their story
- meet the editorial due date as set by the Editor in Chief
- attend online pitch appointments as they arise and needed
- must work closely with other areas in the department such as line editing and proofreading
- provide weekly updates on work status and pending edits
- report directly to managing editor of their assigned team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- experience in the publishing industry, especially in the realm of romance.
- ability to work independently and in collaboration with authors and editorial staff
- excellent organizational and communication skills are a must
- proficient and available access to Microsoft Word 2007 or later edition, or its equivalent
- experience with and access to the Chicago Manual of Style 15th edition or higher
- Fluent in written and spoken English (U.S.)

Line Editor
Breathless Press, a digital publisher of all subgenres of romance, is seeking an experienced line editor ready to work within a busy, exciting, and growing community of industry professionals.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include editing the manuscript for problematic areas in continuity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and matters of House style, including formatting. A line editor’s job is not to do content edits, edits related to plot points.
- read and perform edits for continuity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting, following the Breathless Press House Guidelines on all assigned manuscripts.
- correspond with content editor regarding timeline to ensure editorial deadline is met.
- must work closely with other areas in the department such as content editing and proofreading
- provide weekly updates on work status and pending edits
- report directly to lead line editor

Proof Reader
Breathless Press, a digital publisher of all subgenres of romance, is seeking proofreaders ready to work within a busy, exciting, and growing community of industry professionals.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include performing a final read through of the manuscript, checking for any oversights in continuity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and matters of House style, including formatting. A proofreader’s job is not to perform content edits, edits related to plot points.
- review assigned final manuscript for continuity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting, following the Breathless Press House Guidelines.
- correspond with content editor regarding timeline to ensure editorial deadline is met.
- must work closely with other areas in the department such as content editing and proofreading
- provide weekly updates on work status and pending jobs
- report directly to editor-in-chief

Compensation and Benefits:
Flat rate: $5 per first 10K, then $1.25 per each additional 5K proofed
