"Give me one reason why I shouldn’t fire you." Diane placed her hands on her hips.

"I’m good at my job. Besides, who’s going to run things while you’re on vacation? The department needs me."

"Perhaps. But you were insubordinate in front of the staff. Why would I ignore that?"

"Because you deserved it."

"Did I?" She flipped her hair. "Whatever makes you say that?"

Justin felt emboldened. The locked door and now the hair flip. He had to be reading this right. But there was no way she’d really be flirting with him!

"You were trying to bait me by telling me I had no backbone," Justin said. "You want a man that’ll stand up to you ... a man not afraid of pissing you off."
