Market: We prefer manuscripts that target adults.

 

Genre: We are looking for manuscripts that fall into (but are not limited to one) either: romance or erotic (or any subgenre of the two). We also accept m/m stories.

 

Length: We classify our lengths as follows:

Flirts: under 1,000 words* Currently Not Accepting *

Temptations: 1,500 - 5,000 words* Currently Not Accepting * - Please Note: Our Temptations Line will expand to include 5,000 to 10,000 which we ARE accepting

Novelette: 5,000 - 10,000 words

Novella: 10,000 - 50/60,000 words

Novel: 50/60,000-100,000 words

 

File format: We will only accept electronic submissions. Please send a query letter in the body of the message along with the full manuscript: .doc-compatible (or .rtf) file as an attachment.

 

Query letter: Please include your name and email address in the body of your email. Your query letter should also include your title, genre and word count, a brief synopsis of your story and any relevant credits you may have.

 

Style: A manuscript should be double spaced between lines, with one space after a period. We prefer italics to underlines, minimal formatting (no single character ellipses or spaces between periods in ellipses, no curly or "smart" quotes, and no fancy characters as section breaks), and Courier New or Times New Roman. The title page should include the title, your name and contact information, an estimated word count as well as the heat rating of your story (see below for details).

closed door sex, fan fiction, forced seduction, non-con, rape, incest, pedophilia, water play, brown play, knife play, or blood play, urethral sounding (i.e.- cock stuffing), sexual activities with or between minors, daddy/mommy fantasies, erotic asphyxiation, snuff, bestiality, felching, and necrophilia. (If you aren't sure — please feel free to ask. We try to answer questions regarding our submission guidelines within 48 hours).

Please note, that we do not accept simultaneous submissions, meaning submissions sent to numerous publishers at the same time. If you do submit somewhere else, please let us know and keep us informed and not wait for the "best deal" to arrive in the form of a contract.

Breathless Press Heat Rating

 

When submitting a Romance novel, please state the Heat Rating using the following guidelines:

• 1. Monogamous couples. Infrequent loves scenes with no graphic language.
• 2. Explicit love scenes with graphic or strong language.
• 3. Frequent and explicit loves scenes/graphic depictions of sexual situations. May include BDSM, D/s, homoerotic sex acts.
• Diablo Delight: No holds barred high frequency of sexual interactions with strong erotic content. Extreme BDSM, group sex. No HEA required.
• Sweet Confection: Unconsummated sensual scenes, or love scenes that contain no description of actions.
