Raze never thought he could fall in love, but he has second thoughts when a gorgeous thief reappears in his life. After Allison steals Raze’s money, he’s left with an empty wallet and an ache in his heart. There’s something unusual about Allison. As a distraction, Raze goes to a friend’s party, but fate places Allison in his path again. No one seems to know who she is or where she came from, but Raze is determined to find out more about the sexy and mysterious thief.
With a heavy sigh, Raze removed his wallet from his back pocket and slipped the bills inside it. As he returned the wallet, he caught Don’s intense appraisal. "What?" His friend’s brown eyes glimmered with interest. "You never said why you were short on cash." "I met a girl—" "Aw, jeez," said Don smiled and looked up at the ceiling. "Here it comes." He shut his eyes and waited. When Raze hesitated, Don kept his eyes shut, adding, "And?" "And somehow she got hold of my wallet and cleaned me out." The words nearly choked Raze. Shame continued flowing over his skin, and a light sheen of perspiration broke out over his body. "She ripped you off?" He stood quietly. Don opened his eyes. His eyebrows rose into identical arches. "And you had no idea she’d taken all your dough until she was gone?" He nodded, gulping down a lump of misery. "How the hell did she—?" Don’s eyes widened and he chuckled. "You were fucking her, weren’t you?" "Yeah." A wing-backed chair sat on the opposite side of the desk, and Raze collapsed into it. "I’ve never met anyone like her, Don." He looked up at his friend, who stared back at him with an intrigued expression. "She’s drop-dead gorgeous, built like a brick shit house, funny, bright, and—" "A thief." Don’s smile continued to widen. "That too.” "So do you know how to track her down?" "No." Raze shook his head. "The cell number she gave me is bogus." "Well, dude, I only have one bit of advice." Don rose and walked around the desk where he leaned against it in front of Raze. "It looks like you’ll have to chalk this one up to a lesson learned. Be more careful about who you fuck and keep your damn wallet under lock and key if you have to." Desperation, humiliation, and hopelessness twisted in the center of Raze’s chest. He sat back in the chair and stared out the big window overlooking the apartment building’s courtyard. Beyond the glass pane, Pittsburgh sprawled across the hilly Pennsylvania terrain. "I’ll be damned," said Don, his voice soft. Raze jerked his attention back to his friend. "What is it?" "You’re hooked." He frowned. "What are you talking about?" "Whoever this chick is, you let a new, exciting piece of ass hook you." "Fuck you, Don. I just asked for a loan, not a session with Dr. Love." Laughter burst from his friend. "Raze, you’re the only lady killer I’ve ever known who has shitty luck with women. This time, though," he chuckled harder, "you’ve been bitten by the love bug." "I don’t have time for love," said Raze. Determined to prove Don wrong, he stood and strode to the door. "I’ll prove it. I’ll go hang out, and within an hour, I’ll have a girl on each arm."
